Alternative Assessment

Alternative assessment is the substitution of a different form of assessment to accommodate a student's disability.

AQF Level

AQF level is the nomenclature used in the AQF to demonstrate the relative complexity and/or depth of achievements and the autonomy required of graduates of AQF qualifications to demonstrate that achievement e.g. AQF level 1 has the lowest complexity and AQF Level 10 has the highest complexity.

AQF Qualification

An AQF Qualification is a completed University accredited program of learning that leads to formal certification that a graduate has achieved the learning outcomes as described in the AQF.

An Adjustment

An adjustment is a measure or action (or group of measures or actions) taken by the University that has the effect of assisting a student with a disability: * in relation to an admission or enrolment - to apply for the admission or enrolment; and * in relation to a course or program - to participate in the course or program; and * in relation to facilities or services - to use the facilities or services; on the same basis as a student without a disability, and includes an aid, a facility, or a service that the student requires because of his or her disability (1). An adjustment is reasonable in relation to a student with a disability if it balances the interests of all parties affected. (1) Disability Standards for Education 2005

Articulation Agreement

Articulation agreement is an agreement between Griffith and another institution to document and publicise a specifically approved pathway for progression between a program at the other institution and a Griffith award program, involving specific credit arrangements.

Articulation Arrangements

Articulation arrangements enable students to progress from a completed qualification to another with admission and/or credit in a defined qualification pathway.

Assessment

Assessment is the process of forming a judgment about the quality and extent of student achievement or performance, and therefore by inference a judgment about the learning itself.

Assessment Requirements

Requirements by which the learning outcomes of a course will be assessed as documented in the Course Profile.

Assessment Grade

A grade is the result students receive in a course through the process of aggregating and weighting the marks achieved in individual assessment tasks. Refer to Grades

Assignment

A task set for a student to do in private study for a course (Macquarie Dictionary). Assignments are undertaken out-of-class and build on work delivered in class.
